Back in 2011 Dan and Kate were first introduced by mutual friends within the Missoula music scene. While the Phish-loving, fly-fishing hippie and the hipster-horse girl-cat lady may not have seemed like a logical match at the time, they immediately bonded over a shared love of dogs and a mutual appreciation of the wild spaces in Montana.

Dan and Kate's first date along the Clark Fork River in 2012 was initially proposed as a dog playdate for Dan's beloved Moma Dog (RIP) and Kate's border collie Hazel. It was a perfect date that lead to these two finding their someone special. They love fly fishing, spending time with ALL of their animals, and just being together. After eleven years of dating, Kate has now been to ten Phish shows and has learned to fly fish. Dan now knows how to tow a loaded horse trailer, and has become a cat man himself after adopting Gloria in 2019. On June 26th of 2021, Dan epically surprised Kate by proposing in that very same spot where they went for their first date oh so many years ago.

They decided to get married in Fort Myers, Florida but Hurricane Ian had another plan in mind for them. The plan changed as they sometimes do! The change of plans brought them to the island of Key West, Florida. The new Mr and Mrs exchanged vows oceanside in front of their closest friends and family. After the ceremony in the historic fort, guests were greeted with cocktails and the sun sat in the most Dan & Kate epic way. The garden set up was absolutely stunning where guests enjoyed local inspired cuisine, and everyone in attendance had the best time celebrating this amazing couple!
