Liz and Mike’s Southernmost Wedding

Two Sides to Every Story.

How did you meet?

Here is Liz’s side:

Liz was driving back to Baltimore from 2015 Thanksgiving dinner with the family.  She called her best friend, Josh, to see if he wanted to hang out.  While catching up, Liz said,  “You know what would be the perfect Christmas gift?  Can you get me a boyfriend?”  Originally, Josh was adamant, NO!!!  But a bottle of wine later, he agreed to take a look at her profile.  Utterly disgusted by what he saw, Josh knew it was his duty as best friend to help.  He changed the photo selection, wrote a different bio, and messaged a cute guy.  Within a day, the cute guy messaged back, and they had a date for the end of the week.  While the first date wasn’t fireworks, Liz still had hope.  Within a day, the cute guy sent Liz a text message, while she was grading social studies projects at school.  So elated that they had a second date, she was extra generous with the grades; boy, were the students happy!  The second date was way better than the first.  They actually wound up talking till 2:30 in the morning.  This was no easy feat for an elementary school teacher who had to teach fifty 4th graders the next day.  By the time the night ended, they had a 3rd date set.  The cute boy just purchased his first home but was sleeping in the living room because he didn’t know how or where to get blinds.  Liz agreed to show him the benefits of the Walmart blinds aisle.  Within a week of their first date, Liz had a boyfriend.

Here is Mike’s side:

Mike was in Colorado with his family celebrating Thanksgiving.  He got a message from match.com.  He set a first date.  He set a second date.  He really wanted help with curtains and blinds, so he set a third date.  Well crap, now he is stuck.

How and when did you get engaged?

Liz’s Side:

it was the best day of Liz’s life!  After 18 long months of waiting, she was finally going to see Hamilton on Broadway with her best friends.  She knew all the words to every song, and even insisted the dog be named after the play.  Liz made sure she got a new dress her hair done.  She had to look her best for Hamilton on Broadway!!!!  After the play, she was so over the moon she didn’t realize everyone was being so weird in Time Square trying to take a group photo; all she knew was that  they had the best experience of their life. At dinner, all she could think about was the play, she didn’t even realize that Mike was all nervous and quiet. After dinner we were back in Times Square for another group photo.  Liz just assumed there was something wrong with the first one.   But, goodness Mike was being weird, trying to pull away from the group photo.  What was he doing???  Oh my gosh!  He is on one knee!  Go figure, Mike would make seeing Hamilton the second coolest thing of the day.

Mike’s Side:

Mike thought long and hard about when and how to propose. He wanted to catch Liz completely off guard and finally decided on NYC after seeing Hamilton, knowing that Liz wouldn’t suspect a thing.  Mike told the group while at a rest stop in MD. He wanted to everyone to be surprised, but did need to someone take photos. As time slowly ticked away,  the car ride to NYC seemed to take forever. Walking through Times Square, and anxiously listening to rap music, Mikes hand was glued to his wallet making sure the ring was still there. The group got dinner and drinks after the show, and while walking back through Times Square, the time had finally come. Our friends were casually trying to distance themselves from us so that they could be in perfect position to photograph the moment. Liz however, was not cooperating constantly following our friends and trying to stay close. Finally, the moment came and Mike got down on one knee, and before he could finish asking the question, he had his answer.  Success!  Liz was totally surprised! Mike thought to himself, “I am a genius!”

The two were married oceanside at the stunning southernmost on the Beach where guests enjoyed the views, amazing food, and a whole lotta fun dancing!

Congratulations to you and your families!
